Addressing The Common Female Infertility Myths post thumbnail image

Infertility has always been a huge taboo and because of that couples feel ashamed to share their issues or problems with others or even doctors. In addition, women are made to believe that infertility is their fault, and are called unfortunate. In some societies and cultures, it is even regarded as evil. As a woman, you will hear a lot about herbal treatments, therapies, pills, and more to cure infertility. If you are facing problems related to pregnancy, infertility, and more, you must visit Diva Women’s Hospital, we aim to provide you with the best and most comfortable services by our experienced gynecologists and doctors.

Here are some of the myths that women are being told in cases of infertility.

Female infertility is the only reason for infertility

This is an absurd myth that people believe in. Most people assume that infertility occurs only because of women. Infertility is a complex issue that a variety of factors including genetic issues, hormonal imbalances, and problems with the reproductive organs can cause. Both men and women contribute to infertility and it is important for both partners to be evaluated when trying to conceive.

You can’t get pregnant if you have irregular periods

Irregular periods can be a symptom of a number of conditions, but they do not necessarily mean that a woman is infertile. Ovulation can still occur even with irregular menstrual cycles, and a woman can still get pregnant.

Birth control pills can cause infertility

The birth control pill doesn’t have any effect on fertility, be it positive or negative. The pill only affects the menstrual cycle of a woman. After a woman stops taking the pill, she will again start with her normal cycles within a month or two. If you face any complications or doubt about the pill, it is best to consult a gynecologist or your healthcare provider.

Infertility is caused by stress

While stress can impact overall health, it is not a major cause of infertility, other factors such as genetics and health conditions play a much larger role in infertility. Although if you feel you are under too much stress, take into consideration to take out time for yourself in order to remain calm. You can also consult your healthcare provider.

Infertility doesn’t occur if you have given birth once

This is another infertility myth that is often said to women. Women are not childbearing machines. After all, it’s a human body, it doesn’t matter if she has delivered a baby once or even twice, there is a possibility for infertility. A woman may experience difficulty in conceiving again. This is called secondary infertility. It occurs due to damage to fallopian tubes, scarring in the uterus, or other conditions.

Women can’t get pregnant after 30

This is also one of the most common myths about infertility. Infertility can affect women of all ages, and factors of genetics can affect some older women. In our culture, people in families force you to get pregnant before 30 because they believe this myth. There is no doubt that the peak productive years for pregnancy in women are their early 20s, however, there are several women having healthy pregnancies in their 30s. A lot of women are perfectly fertile and healthy to give birth till the age of 35. Planning a baby and giving birth is a personal decision for a woman, and age has nothing to do with it till some point.

It is important to remember that not all myths are true. It is always recommended to consult a specialist to determine the cause of infertility and to create a treatment plan tailored to the individual case, not to rely on myths or alternative treatments without consulting an expert. If you are considering getting pregnant, make sure to be aware of all the myths and what is genuinely true. Save yourself from getting blamed or even feeling embarrassed thinking that the infertility is caused by you. Only women are never responsible for infertility nor do they cause it. It is crucial to educate yourself and others about these topics so that we do not end up getting caught up in myths that are not at all true.
